In 2013, Jamie started a radio show called The Jamie Meloni Real Estate show which aired Mondays at Noon on Tampa Bay's 1250 WHNZ. Then on February 2nd, 2015, he launched the 5 day a week live program, That Business Show which aired for two years from 7am to 9am each morning on 1250 WHNZ. Opening up the program today was Todd Magazine, President of Blink Fitness. This company is based in New York and is expanding into the Tampa Bay area with plans to open stores starting in 2017. Prior to joining Blink Fitness, Todd Magazine held senior leadership roles at venerable organizations such as Procter & Gamble, PepsiCo, and Equinox (his current employer, for which he oversees start-up Blink Fitness). His varied experiences have afforded him many rewarding and challenging opportunities, including his current role as the chief growth driver for a fast growing new brand in a mature category – Blink Fitness. His previous roles have involved full-scale turnarounds, the reinvention of beloved consumer products, and the expansion of businesses within heavily competitive markets. Todd speaks of their model and how they are able to offer a “luxury” gym experience for under $20/month versus traditional outlets that charge more for similar offerings. They are in talks with franchisees, but opportunities are still open for discussion. Learn more about these opportunities at www.blinkfranchising.com and more on Blink at http://www.blinkfitness.com.
At 7:30, we welcomed Noah Pransky, Investigative Reporter at WTSP-TV. Since coming to 10News, he’s maintained the Shadow of the Stadium blog, which focuses on Florida sports business news and stadium campaigns. Noah has won four regional Edward R. Murrow Awards for news and sports reporting, including a national recognition in 2013 for exposing safety issues on youth soccer fields. Noah has also been honored 8 times with Emmy Awards for Investigative Reporting. He and Jamie discussed the Ray’s stadium issue and Noah offers some insight into the current situation and feels that the best place suited for the Rays stadium will either be at its current location with a renovation to the area and a stadium re-build or in Pinellas County, citing resources available in Pinellas versus Hillsborough County. Noah and Jamie touch on the red light camera controversy too, an issue that he and Channel 10 have covered extensively and he offers up their email for people that have leads for them to investigate at email@example.com!
